Whilst the arrivals of visitor has not reached pre-pandemic levels, a steady growth is being realised.

According to Statistics South Africa, compared to Year 2023 South Africa’s visitor arrivals increase by 5.1%. Arrivals reached 8.92 million in 2024.

“It is encouraging to see that despite economic uncertainties in various parts of the world, the global tourism sector is growing. It is even more encouraging that our country follows the same trend and trajectory,” Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille said.

Tourism contributes approximately 8.8% to South Africa’s gross domestic product, supporting about 1.68 million jobs.
